In early 2005, the 20-passenger, 130 foot Turks & Caicos Explorer II became the newest addition to the Explorer Ventures Fleet, and took over the Turks & Caicos itinerary. The largest and most luxurious vessel in the fleet, it now operates year-round from Providenciales and offers an exceptional week of diving in the islands.
The original vessel was again moved, this time to the islands and cays of the Southern Bahamas. The original Caribbean Explorer I was still considered one of the best liveaboard dive vessels in the Caribbean.
In February 2007, the newest addition to the Explorer Ventures Fleet entered service – the 16-passenger luxury vessel Galapagos Eco Explorer I and offers 8-day liveaboard diving excursions from the central Galapagos archipelago to the northern islands of Darwin and Wolf. Designed for speed and cruising comfort, the 90-foot catamaran will represent the new standard for liveaboard diving in the Galapagos.
The year 2008 was a on of change for Explorer Ventures. The Caribbean Explorer I was retired after over 20 years of dedicated service to the diving industry and the Nimrod Explorer was sold and Estrella del Mar took over the Galapagos itinerary.
The southern Bahamas itinerary has been filled by the Caribbean Explorer II in the fall and winter month. She then returns to the northeastern Caribbean to travel the islands of Saba, Statia and St. Kitts in the spring and summer.
In August 2009, Explorer Ventures announced the newest vessel addition. The Humboldt Explorer will begin service in the Galapagos in 2010. This new vessel will provide guests with exceptional luxury and great diving having been permitted to dive Darwin & Wolf islands.
Even with the changes wihtin the Explorer Ventures’ fleet over the past few years, the foundation of the company is still the same – providing guests with world-class liveaboard diving vacations at an exceptional value. Explorer Ventures is now the largest privately-owned liveaboard diving fleet in the world, but our hope is still that each guest we have aboard our vessels becomes more than just a guest but a life-time friend.
